Product Description

KRYTAR Zero Bias Schottky Detectors are inline coaxial barrel connector packages for use in today’s high-performance microwave instrumentation and systems. KRYTAR detectors are designed for use in applications including power measurements, analyzing radar performance, leveling pulsed signal sources, AM noise measurements, system monitoring and pulsed RF measurements in broadband, 5G and mm-Wave applications.

KRYTAR’s Model 203 Series Detectors have a Minimum Frequency of 10 MHz and a Maximum Frequency of 40 GHz with a Frequency Response of ±0.5 dB to 20 GHz, ±0.8 dB to 26.5 GHz and ±1.5 to 40 GHz. Additional performance features include 50 ohm matched inputs for an excellent maximum VSWR of 1.35 to 20 GHz, 1.5 to 26.5 GHz and 2.0 to 40 GHz, Negative Output Polarity (For Positive Output Polarity add a “P” to the end of the model number), Low Voltage Sensitivity of 0.5 mV/µW typical, and can withstand maximum input power levels up to 100 mW. Operating temperature range is -54°C to +100°C. The compact and rugged cylindrical package includes an industry standard 3.5mm Input Connector.

Gigahertz (GHz): A unit of measurement denoting the number of cycles in one second. One GHz is one billion cycles every second.

Megahertz (MHz): Equal to 1 million Hz. Uses the SI Prefix Mega, meaning 10^6.

Schottky Diode: The Schottky diode, named after German physicist Walter H. Schottky, is a semiconductor diode formed by the junction of a semiconductor with a metal.

Zero Bias Schottky: A zero bias Schottky diode detector is a type of RF power detector that doesn’t require a bias voltage to operate. These devices can be used in many applications that don’t require primary DC power while in standby or listen mode.

VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio): The ratio of the maximum voltage to the minimum voltage in standing wave pattern along the length of a transmission line structure. It varies from 1 to (plus) infinity and is always positive. VSWR can be converted to return loss or the reflection coefficient.

Frequency Sensitivity is the amount of frequency change in the carrier frequency per unit amplitude change in the message signal.

Operating Temperature: An operating temperature is the temperature at which an electrical device operates. The device will operate effectively within a specified temperature range which varies based on the device function and application context, and ranges from the minimum operating temperature to the maximum operating temperature (or peak operating temperature). Outside this range of safe operating temperatures the device may fail.

SMA Connector: These connectors are semi-precision coaxial RF connectors and are designed for use from DC to 25 GHz.

BNC Connector: This RF coaxial connector is a miniature quick connect/disconnect and has a bayonet mount locking mechanism.

SMC Jack Connector: SMC Female (Jack) connectors are Sub-miniature type C which have an external thread and provide an interconnect means for small form factor coaxial cables.

2.4 mm Connector: These connectors usually work up to 50 GHz and are physically compatible with 1.85 connectors (1.85 connectors are also known as “V” connectors).

2.92 mm Connector: These connectors offer higher maximum frequencies than SMA connectors and usually work up to 40 GHz (also known as “K” connector).

3.5 mm Connector: These connectors offer higher maximum frequencies than SMA connectors and usually work up to 26.5 GHz.
